Murdered Unboxed
Every piece of evidence collected during a murder investigation tells a story. While it's the forensics, the witness corroboration, and the prosecution that actually yield a conviction, it's the evidence that helps construct a story — the physical cues that help the jury and the investigators imagine what happened. At the conclusion of every case, the associated items are boxed up and put in evidence to remain as the unfortunate mementos of each grim story. In Murder Unboxed, we dust off a box of evidence to tell the story of a murder. In each episode, we deal with a new case and a new collection of evidence, using seemingly unrelated items to connect the dots of a case and tell a visual story of what exactly transpired. Whether it's the broken glass of a window pane with a partial boot print, a cigarette butt left at the scene of the crime, or even the weapon used in the murder itself, we explore how each item helps bring a murder investigation from speculation squarely into reality. Throughout each episode, we'll use these pieces of evidence to shed light on cases and even uncover new details, along the way talking to police involved in the cases, witnesses, and evidence room technicians who can interpret the complexity of the forensics. In this close-ended series, we will use original footage of evidence itself not only as storytelling tools, but also as the format of the show itself.
