Kings of the Beach

"Kings of The Beach" is a premium documentary project produced by Coolfire Studios that explores the epic rise of professional beach volleyball from its origins in Southern California to its status as a global Olympic sport and its subsequent decline. The film delves into the sport's heyday from the early 80s to mid-90s, showcasing never-before-seen footage, photos, and outrageous stories. Featuring interviews with beach volleyball legends such as Sinjin Smith, Karch Kiraly, Tim Hovland, Mike Dodd, Dain Blanton, Jim Menges, Steve Obradovich, and Dane Selznick, the documentary reveals how old rivalries remain strong today. The project also highlights the emergence of women's beach volleyball with insights from three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor and Olympic Bronze Medalist Holly McPeak. Additionally, it examines the business side of the sport through conversations with former Miller Brewing Company marketing head Kevin Wulff and former AVP CEO Leonard Armato, providing a comprehensive look at the factors that have shaped beach volleyball into the phenomenon it is today.
